Please find details below of how Clinigen intends to mitigate the risk of supply disruption as the UK exits the current transitional trading period with the EU planned for the end of 2020.
From 1st January 2021 Clinigen Healthcare Limited will supply licensed and unlicensed medicines to customers in Northern Ireland from its European hub in Belgium.
For licensed medicines, the IE/NI Protocol makes certain provisions of EU law applicable also to and in the United Kingdom in respect of Northern Ireland. Our decision to supply from our Belgian hub means our medicines can move freely into Northern Ireland and not be subject to importation testing, requirements for safety features etc. that may be required if the UK and the EU fail to reach a form of Mutual Recognition Agreement that would facilitate free movement of medicines.
For unlicensed medicines, the decision to supply from Belgium was made prior to the MHRA’s recent announcement (confirming unlicensed medicine can continue to be supplied from Great Britain to Northern Ireland) and was taken in order to minimise the risk of disruption and guarantee continuity of supply of medicine to Northern Ireland post Brexit. We will be reviewing this decision in due course and if the guidance does not change again it is likely that we will revert to supplying from the UK. In this instance we will contact and update you.
What does this mean for our customers?
There are no changes to your current ordering process and next day delivery will still be available. However, the cut off time for placing orders for next day delivery will now be 2pm UK time.
You will continue to receive invoices from Clinigen Healthcare Limited however our invoice to you will show Belgian VAT rather than UK VAT as it does today. If you are VAT registered and supply us with your VAT registration number we will be able to issue our invoice to you with 0% Belgian VAT (you will be required to account for the relevant acquisition VAT in your monthly VAT return). If relevant please email details of your VAT registration number to creditcontrol@clinigengroup.com and we will update our system. If you are not registered for VAT our invoice will be issued with 21% Belgian VAT. For your reference our Belgian VAT registration number is BE0506739777.
As part of our contingency planning, we have increased safety stock levels on all our stocked lines in our UK Warehouses to ensure continued and future supply is available. Should you wish to make the decision to review your stock levels and place additional orders now, prior to this period of change we can support this.
